After being held captive at the hands of a serial killer, Holly Lawrence is the only one who’s ever managed to escape the werewolf known as the Hunter. As a Hound for Shifter Town Enforcement, it was her job to track and find the killer; instead another girl died the night that she escaped. Now, the Hunter is changing his game and he has Holly in his crosshairs, all he needs is a good chase.

But when he targets the pack of Sanctuary Falls, alpha werewolf Caine Morgan is determined to protect them–and he’s not the only one. The Hunter is using Sanctuary Falls in a terrifying cat-and-mouse-game as he zeroes in on the one prey that ever got away: Holly. As Holly struggles to stay one step ahead of the Hunter, it’s up to her and Caine to work together to save herself and his pack…

But with the body count rising with every full moon, this killer won’t stop until Holly cries sanctuary….and runs.

Short Excerpt:

Ollie watched the towering man looming in front of her partner, a scowl etched on his craggy face. His arms were braced over his chest. Aloof. From his military cropped hair to the taut muscles that made him look bigger, more imposing. Worried. Then again, the Sanctuary Falls alpha had a damn good reason to be worried. He was missing a wolf, and with less than a week until the full moon, there was a good chance that whoever the woman was, she was in a rundown shack in the middle of the woods somewhere waiting to die.
             “You’re a lion. Not a Hound.”
Sawyer flinched at that, and Ollie shook her head. The woman needed to stop flinching. Being the first lion-shifter allowed through the Shifter Town Enforcement Academy, becoming the first non-canine Hound, was one hell of an achievement. And definitely nothing to be ashamed of.
            “I’m both, sir. Sawyer Reyes.”
Sawyer shakily held out her badge and Ollie wanted to strangle her. Don’t cower, don’t shake. Confidence. The woman needed to learn to wear it like a cloak. No. Screw that. A second skin.
Caine Morgan curled back his lips in a snarl, the wolf not at all impressed, and Ollie headed over to intervene. It was Sawyer’s first month out of the academy. She’d learn, and if the woman was half what Lennox had talked her up to be, she’d make a damn fine Hound when she found her spine. It took strength and courage to survive a killer. It was, after all, why their boss had made them partners.
Ollie neatly stepped up behind the Sanctuary Falls alpha. “Mr. Morgan?”
He turned, dark brown eyes almost black as they narrowed on her. His goatee was neatly trimmed, but black stubble was beginning to win out, giving him a rugged appearance that went perfectly with that scowl. She could see why Sawyer had flinched. The man had a glare on him that could have melted steel. Or made any sane, sensible person cower.
Instead, Ollie stiffed her spine and met him head on, holding out her hand. “Holly Lawrence, Shifter Town Enforcement.”
He gave one long, slow blink and she knew the moment her name went from casual recognition to something more solid. The Holly Lawrence. The one who’d survived. She felt the familiar anger curl in her gut. It hadn’t been like that, but she didn’t correct him. If anything, it lessened the scowl on his face. Made the hard edge to him feel a lot less like a knife to the throat. He still didn’t seem friendly.
“When was your wolf last seen?”
“Last night. And you’re damn well aware it’s four days to the full moon.”
She was. She knew the phases of the moon better than anyone. She’d lived and breathed this case during the academy and after. Ollie had worked her ass off to get her brother to transfer her up from the Colorado Enforcement office to here, to work with Lennox, but more importantly to work in the state the Hunter liked to call home.
Caine stepped closer, menacing, but she didn’t back down. One snarling wolf wasn’t all that much different from the next. She met his gaze calmly. Something in him eased as her eyes met his, and the fight seemed to drain out of him a notch.
“Her name is Claire Rawson,” he said. “She’s twenty-one; she went out drinking last night with a bunch of buddies to celebrate her birthday. She went to the bathroom alone and never came back.”
He jerked his head towards the pair of women standing in the Shifter Town Enforcement lobby. “I brought them along in case you needed to speak with them personally.”
Caine held out a picture next. It was of a spunky-looking brunette with a low-cut blouse, overdone makeup, and a warm smile that said she laughed easily. Ollie had to fight the burn of tears at the back of her eyes. If she didn’t find the Hunter, this would be the face of the woman they found dead in five days.

Hounded
By Sadie Hart

Lion-shifters Kanon Reyes and Tegan Sharpe aren’t sure what Kanon’s done to earn himself a frame-up for murder, but they’re determined to keep him from a silver bullet and a shallow grave. To do that, though, they’ll have to rely on the sexy Hound sent to arrest him.

As a Hound for Shifter Town Enforcement, Lennox Donnelly is one of the best. But when one of her arrest warrants turns out to be for an innocent man, she’s determined to get to the truth. What she finds are dead witnesses and an untraceable magick–with a killer far more powerful than her. Now, to survive, Lennox will have to learn to rely on more than just herself if she’s to make it back to the men she’s come to love.

About this Author:

Sadie Hart lives in Michigan with two dogs, though one should totally be a Moose, and they both occasionally show signs of super powers. Like the ability to fly and mind read. Okay, maybe not the flying part. That’s actually her flying pig, Pignificent. Though his super powers also include laser vision.

During the day, while not wrangling super-pooches and pigs, Sadie works as a secretary in a library trying not to read the books. At night, she writes action packed paranormal romances with a heavy dose of the things that go bump in the night – both the spooky and the naughty kind.

EXCERPT:

“Enjoying yourselves?” The question slipped out before she could second guess herself, and they both jerked their heads up at the sound of her voice.

They didn’t, however, stop dancing.

“You get what you needed?”

“Just need one from the snake and I’m good to go.”

Kanon turned, dropping one arm from Tegan’s back and he reached for her. “Aibileen’s on duty ‘til three. You can dance a few rounds before then.”

His grin turned wicked then. All pure, sweet, sensual sin and Lennox thought about running. Dodging right back out to her car and leaving them both stranded here.

Yeah. Some big, bad Enforcement Hound she was.

Kanon’s hand found her waist, curving gently over her hip and Lennox lifted an eyebrow. Daring, without moving. She was not going to run. She was a ridgeback and one of the top Enforcement Hounds in the country. Lennox Donnelly didn’t run.

Tegan’s hand slipped around her other hip.

Lennox swallowed. Besides, backing up now would definitely be showing fear.

They eased closer and her back locked up as a shiver skated down her spine. The pair of them were built like tanks. Muscled, gorgeous, tanks.

Kanon bumped her shoulder with his. “You should dance with us.”

“Yeah,” Tegan whispered.

She sucked in a hard breath, “I don’t think that’d be smart.”

“Why?” Tegan nudged her hip with his, his arm sliding around her waist. “Kanon’s off the hook, innocent. We’re here with a good chunk of the night left to spend. Why waste it?”

“Wanna bet if we were Hounds she’d already be on the dance floor?” Kanon’s eyes locked with hers, accusing, even as the words came off light. But he was right. If she’d been off duty and one of the Hounds had asked her to dance...why not?

“Discriminating,” Tegan murmured, his lips curved into a soft smile as he laid a kiss against the edge of her jaw. She jumped at the touch, but there was nowhere to go.

“No. You’re just in my space.” Her voice shook a little as she said it.

“Then back up.” Another kiss.

“Unless you like us in your space.” Kanon’s gaze dropped to her lips just as Tegan kissed the swell of her neck.

Lennox tightened her grip on her beer and tried to think of what to say, but she kept staring at Kanon’s eyes, his gaze locked on her lips and she wanted him to kiss her. As stupid as it was, it wasn’t like he was a criminal anymore and she wanted to try a lion.

“Lennox,” Tegan whispered. “You gonna back up yet?”

She swallowed, shaky. “No. But I might smash this bottle upside your head.”

She felt them both pause, Kanon’s gaze lifting to meet hers. Reevaluating. She had a choice. Tuck tail and run or stand and fight.

She’d always been more of a fighting kind of woman.

Lennox pressed her beer bottle into Kanon’s free hand, grabbed hold of his shirt and yanked his lips down against hers.

Guest Post by Sadie Hart:

Writing a Kick Ass Heroine

When I first started reading romances…the girls in the book, well let’s face it, they always needed saving. Were always waiting to be rescued. And while I gobbled that up for years (I’m a total sucker for an alpha male, so I could see the allure)…when I got burnt out on the genre, I stumbled on urban fantasy. And wow, but those women could kick butt. Big time. Even those that weren’t powerful magically so, they still were strong personality wise. They stood up for what they believed in, protected those they cared about, did anything and everything they could to stop the bad guy, and in the end, often saved themselves.

You know, they were alpha females. Everything I’d liked in my heroes. It didn’t mean then men had to be weak, it just meant that both sexes could be strong. Those were the kind of female characters that I wanted to write. They were truly heroines of their books. For Hounded, Lennox is strong, capable, good at her job. She has a confidence that could be off putting. But she’s also got a justice streak, is loyal to those she cares about, and will do anything in her power to keep her loved ones safe. From the moment she walked on screen in the book, I knew she was going to be just as strong as her heroes.

What kind of heroines do you like to read about? Who are some of your favorites? (Yes, I’m always fishing for book recommendations :-p)
