#FEARTHEREAPER: Countdown to Wings of the Wicked Week 3

This time we are counting down the release of WINGS OF WICKED!
The first chapter of Wings will be in the ANGELFIRE paperback out January 17 along with an exclusive scene from Will's POV involving, Ragnuk, Bastian, Ivar, Geir, and Cadan.....
So much excitement!

In the Fear the Reaper tradition, Courtney will be giving away a book and posting a song from the WINGS OF THE WICKED playlist each week, but because some of these songs are massively spoilery, she'll let the lyrics speak for themselves and she will say nothing about what the song means in relation to Wings. These songs will be posted chronologically with their scenes in the book You will have to find out for yourself!

Be sure to check out the Wings of the Wicked soundtrack
to hear songs for the book that she wrote herself!
CD's will be handed out on the Dark Days of Supernatural Tour in February!

Week 3

Song: Draw Your Swords by Angus and Julia Stone

Another chance to win an ARC...and SIGNED at that!

P.S. I was a little (okay, very much) late in posting this. So you only have until TOMORROW (Jan. 1st) to enter.

James Vallesteros' Interpretation of Ash from The Iron Fey

I just wanted to share this with everyone. I had read on Facebooks that James Vallesteros was going to draw his interpretation of Ash and I just saw it posted to Facebook today.

It's not how I picture Ash, but everyone is different, right?

What do you think of this interpretation? Let me know what you have to say in the comments!

Saying Good-Bye to 2011: Happy New Year!!

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

As we walk into the new year, we have to say goodbye to 2011 and focus on our goals and aspirations for 2012.

Photobucket
Photobucket

I've had a pretty good 2011. I've had firsts and lasts, victories and losses, and I've met a lot of great people along the way.

I won my first contest/giveaway on Peace, Love, Teen Fiction: a bookmark pack.

I won my first First-Reads giveaway on Goodreads: Moonlight (Pact Arcanum, #3).

I started my book reviews blog: Zodiac Book Reviews.

I started A Bibliophile's Thoughts on Books after a couple failed attempts that I wasn't happy with. I'm very happy with this one though.

I completed my Goodreads Reading Challenge with 113 books read in 2011 (that's not including manga, otherwise the number would be over 200).

I participated in my first blog event: Wonderfully Wicked Read-A-Thon.

I started my Facebook Page: Twin Dragons Knowledge- Books & More.

I got a Twitter account!

And so many other things, I can't think of them all.

Goals for 2012

I hope to write a lot more reviews than I did in 2011. I already have a few lined up that the author's requested from me.

I hope to bring more content and readership to A Bibliophile's Thoughts on Books.

I'm upping my Goodreads Reading Challenge goal to 125 books read in 2012 (not including manga).

I'm participating in the Wicked Winter Read-A-Thon. Yay for the #WWReaders!!

I'm taking part in 3 other reading challenges: YA Mythology Challenge, Dystopian Reading Challenge, and Immortals Reading Challenge.

And I hope a meet a bunch of new people in 2012, and having fun with those I already know!

Now what's the new year without singing a little song? (I'm sure you know which one I'm talking about).

English Translation

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind ?
Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and old lang syne ?
CHORUS:
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we'll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
And surely you’ll buy your pint cup !
and surely I’ll buy mine !
And we'll take a cup o’ kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have run about the slopes,
and picked the daisies fine ;
But we’ve wandered many a weary foot,
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
We two have paddled in the stream,
from morning sun till dine ;
But seas between us broad have roared
since auld lang syne.
CHORUS
And there’s a hand my trusty friend !
And give us a hand o’ thine !
And we’ll take a right good-will draught,
for auld lang syne.
CHORUS

Happy 2012, everyone!!

SWOON Thursday (#5): Flying Blind by Deborah Cooke

Hosted by YA Bound

From the book you’re currently reading, or one you just finished, tell us what made you SWOON. What got your heart pounding, your skin tingling, and your stomach fluttering. Shout it out on Twitter with the hashtag #YABound, post it here in the comments, or grab the adorable button above and share it on your blog! We want to know :-)

Here's mine:

I loved how he said my name. His fingers were wrapped in my hair, the strength of his hand turning my knees to butter. I stared into his eyes and couldn't imagine anywhere I'd rather be.

"Me, neither," he whispered, startling me that he could read my thoughts.

Then he kissed me.

Oh.

Top 10 Characters in 2011: Couples

Top 10 of 2011 is hosted by Jessica from Confessions of a Bookaholic, Lisa from A Life Bound by Books, Jamie & Patricia from Two Chicks on Books and Rachel from Fiktshun. It's a great opportunity to go back and remember all of the books you've read in 2011. For more information go here.

(These are in no specific order)

Kaylee Cavanaugh & Tod Hudson
If I Die by Rachel Vincent (Soul Screamers)

Quote (Kaylee): “I wanted more firsts with Tod. But all I had left was a handful of lasts.”

Quote (Tod):  “You just say the word, and I'll make the rest of the world go away. I'll take you someplace safe, where no one else can reach us.”

Quote (Tod & Kaylee): “I could have kissed you months ago, but it wouldn’t have meant anything. I wished for you to see me. And want me. So…did you mean it?”

“Yes,” I said, and some unnamed tension inside me eased. “I see you, Tod.”

Meghan Chase & Prince Ash
The Iron Knight by Julie Kagawa (The Iron Fey)

Quote (Meghan): “You enjoy making my heart stop, don't you?”

Quote (Ash): “I will be with her again, or I will die. There aren’t any other options”

Quote (Ash & Meghan): His breath hitched, and he regarded me hungrily. “You’re playing with fire, you know that?”

“That’s weird, considering you’re an ice prin—” I didn’t get any further, as Ash leaned in and kissed me.
Lucinda Price & Daniel Grigori
Passion by Lauren Kate (Fallen)

Quote (Luce): “I'll always choose you." Yes that was the word. "Every single lifetime, I'll choose you. Just as you have always chosen me. Forever.”

Quote (Daniel): “I’ll love you with all my heart, in every life, through every death. I will not be bound by anything but my love for you.”

Quote (Luce & Daniel): “I don’t know how you can stand it. Over and over again, the same sadness—”

He lifted her up. “The same ecstasy—”

“The same fire that kills everything—”

“The same passion that ignites it all again. You don’t know. You can’t remember how wonderful—”

“I’ve seen it. I do know.”

Clarissa Fray Morgenstern & Jace Wayland Morgenstern Herondale Lightwood
City of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare (The Mortal Instruments)

Quote (Clary): "When you love someone, you don't have a choice. Love takes your choices away."

Quote (Jace): “I know it's wrong - God, it's all kinds of wrong - but I just want to lie down with you and wake up with you, just once, just once ever in my life.”

Quote (Jace & Clary):  “You could have had anything else in the world, and you asked for me." She smiled up at him. Filthy as he was, covered in blood and dirt, he was the most beautiful thing she'd ever seen.

"But I don't want anything else in the world.”

Zoey Redbird & James Stark
Destined by P.C. Cast and Kristin Cast (House of Night)

Quote (Zoey): “The bond between us was like fire- it burned and consumed, almost painful in its intensity. Almost unbearable in its pleasure. We clung to each other, mouths pressed against skin, body against body. All I could feel was Stark. All I could hear was the pounding of our hearts beating in time together. I couldn't tell where I ended and he began. I couldn't tell which pleasure was mine, and which was his. Afterward while I lay in his arms, our legs twined together, our bodies slick with sweat, I sent a silent prayer to my Goddess: Nyx, thank you for giving Stark to me. Thank you for letting him love me.”

Quote (Stark): “I'm always going to keep your heart safe, even if mine has to stop beating for that to happen.”

Quote (Stark & Zoey):

“I'll find you, don't worry. My body won't be with you all the time, but you'll always have my heart. I'm your Warrior, remember?"

"I'll never forget. I promise. I'm your High Priestess and you've pledged yourself to me. That means you have my heart, too."

"Then both of us better stay safe. A heart's a hard thing to live without. I should know. I've tried it.”

Mara Dyer & Noah Shaw
The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin (Mara Dyer)

Quote (Mara): “I was going to kiss him, and I was going to regret it. But at that moment, I couldn't bring myself to care.”

Quote (Noah): “You're the girl who called me an asshole the first time we spoke. The girl who tried to pay for lunch even after you learned I have more money than God. You're the girl who risked her ass to save a dying dog, who makes my chest ache whether you're wearing green silk or ripped jeans. You're the girl that I--" Noah stopped, then took a step closer to me. "You are my girl.”

Quote (Noah & Mara): “You want me as much as I want you. And all I want is you."

My tongue warred with my mind. "Today," I whispered.

Noah stood slowly, his body skimming mine as he rose. "Today. Tonight. Tomorrow. Forever.”

Calla Tor & Renier Laroche
Nightshade by Andrea Cremer (Nightshade)

Quote (Calla): “Are you trying to say that you love me?”

Quote (Ren): “Tell me you’ll come back for the pack. For me.” His eyes were bright with tears. “I don’t want to lose you.”

Quote (Ren & Calla): “Right.” He slowly stood up. “This is new territory for you. Stupid sequestering, the Keepers better not have turned you into a nun or something.”

I snatched a book off my nightstand and threw it at him. “Get out of my room!”

He caught the book in midair and laid it on the bed. “Easy, Lily. That was a bad joke. I didn’t mean any offense.”

I shook with humiliation. “You don’t know what it’s been like.”

“I know, and I’m sorry.” He came to my side and cupped my face. “I’m sure it hasn’t been fun. You deserve better.”

I nodded. He lowered his head, softly brushing his lips over mine. “I’ll show you how much fun it can be. You need to trust me.”

Lena Holoway & Alex Sheathes
Delirium by Lauren Oliver (Delirium)

Quote (Lena): “That's all I want. Just you and me. Always.”

Quote (Alex): "Everyone is asleep. They've all been asleep for years. You seemed ... awake." Alex is whispering now. He closes his eyes, opens them again."I'm tired of sleeping."

Quote (Alex & Lena): “Are you sure that being like everybody else will make you happy?"

"I don't know any other way."

"Let me show you."

And then we're kissing. Or at least, I think we're kissing—I've only seen it done a couple of times, quick closed-mouth pecks at weddings or on formal occasions. But this isn't like anything I've ever seen, or imagined, or even dreamed: this is like music or dancing but better than both.

Rose Hathaway & Dimitri Belikov
Last Sacrifice by Richelle Mead (Vampire Academy)

Quote (Rose): “Would he have said he loved me? I would ask myself that for the rest of my life.”

Quote (Dimitri): “Don't worry, Roza, I'm not afraid. I'll take whatever heat they give me over being with you. It's worth it.”

Quote (Rose & Dimitri): "The spell. Victor said you had to want me…to care about me…for it to work. Did you? Did you want me?"

"Yes, Roza. I did want you. I still do. I wish…we could be together."

MacKayla Lane & Jericho Barrons
Shadowfever by Karen Marie Moning (Fever)

Quote (Mac): He looked at me and I shivered. I never get enough of him. Never will. He lives. I breathe. I want. Him. Always. Fire to my ice. Ice to my fever.

Quote (Barrons): “You're Mac," he says. "And I'm Jericho. And nothing else matters. Never will. You exsist in a place that is beyond all rules for me. Do you understand that?"

Quote (Barrons & Mac): He strips his shirt over his head and I catch my breath, watching those long hard muscles ripple. I know how his shoulders look, bunched, when he's on top of me, how his face gets tight with lust, as he eases inside me. "Who am I?"

"Jericho"

"Who are you?" He kicks off his boots, steps out of his pants. He's commando tonight.

My breath whooshes out of me in a run-on word: "Whogivesafuck?"

Waiting on Wednesday (#4): Never to Sleep by Rachel Vincent

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's eagerly anticipated release is:

Never to Sleep (Soul Screamers #5.5)
by Rachel Vincent
Kindle Edition
Expected publication: January 1st 2012 by Harlequin Teen
Don't Close Your Eyes.

Sophie Cavanaugh is not going to let her freak of a cousin's strange psychiatric condition ruin high school for them both. Not after all the work she's put into cultivating the right look, and friends, and reputation. But then, Sophie sees something so frightening she lets out a blood-curdling scream—and finds herself stuck in a bizarre parallel world where nothing is safe and deadly creatures lurk just out of sight, waiting for her to close her eyes and sleep...forever.

Could this world be real? Or does insanity run in the family...?
I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens to Sophie. Is she a bean sidhe, after all? It'll be interesting to see how Sophie reacts to the truth and how she handles it.

- My Soul to Save

Ashallayn'darkmyr Tallyn from The Iron Knight (Iron Fey)

Ren Laroche from Nightshade/Wolfsbane (Nightshade)

- Shadow Kiss

John Smith from The Power of Six (Lorien Legacies)

Quote: “I am an alien, I have extraordinary powers, with more to come, and I can do things that no human would dream of, but I still look like a fool.”

Tristan Knight from Promise (Soul Savers)

Quote: “I wouldn’t, though, turn you in, I mean. You can stalk me anytime.” He grinned. I blushed. Mr. Beautiful is flirting with me.
