Hunger Games "Girl on Fire" Designer Recreations

InStyle asked several well-known designers to recreate Katniss Everdeen's iconic 'Girl on Fire' outfit from 'The Hunger Games.'

Christian Siriano
Rachel Roy

Tadashi Shoji
Charlotte Ronson

Nicole Miller
BCBGeneration

Tommy Hilfiger
Christian Coda

Tibi
Erin Fetherston

The Blonds
I have to say that I like the Tadashi Shoji, Charlotte Ronson, and BCBGeneration sketches the best. The Tibi design looks like it was created by a toddler and doesn't have much 'fire' to it. And The Blonds design makes Katniss look like an evil archnemesis in a comic.

Which designs do you like? Which do you hate? Let me know in the comments!

Teaser Tuesday (#1): Torn by Erica O'Rourke

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My Teaser: (Mine's a little longer than two sentences...)

He touched my cheek, where the flying glass had cut me. "Looks like you caught it pretty good. Close your eyes."

"Why?"

"So I can fix it. Can't take you home looking like you were in a bar fight. What's Cujo gonna say?"

I had a pretty good idea of what Colin would say---none of it good, all of it loud. "I meant, why do I have to close my eyes?"

He shifted. "Feels strange to have you looking at me, I guess."

"I like to," I said without thinking. "Besides, it's not fair. You're looking at me."

He held back a smirk, only partway successfully. "Suit yourself."

Cover Ogle (#2): Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout

No one is who they seem. And not everyone will survive the lies...
Expected publication: May 2012 by Entangled Publishing
The first book in the Lux series, Obsidian, is released tomorrow, December 6. I've heard great things about this series and I can't wait to start reading it.
But this post is about the cover for the second book, Onyx, so I'm going to move along... I have to say that I like this cover better than the one for the first book. I love the blue coloring in the background and Katy's dress. It makes Daemon's eyes stand out more than on Obsidian's green cover. And Katy and Daemon's pose is just really cute.
What do you think of this cover? Let me know in the comments!

All A Book Lover Needs for Christmas is...

I saw this on Facebook and I had to share it. It really is true. The library has everything a book lover could want for Christmas. Books, computers, and adventure! (Too bad the library's closed on Christmas Eve and Day, though).

FBF Book Spotlight: Slayers by C.J. Hill

Slayers
by C.J. Hill
Published September 27th 2011 by Feiwel & Friends
Dragons exist. They’re ferocious. And they’re smart: Before they were killed off by slayer-knights, they rendered a select group of eggs dormant, so their offspring would survive. Only a handful of people know about this, let alone believe it – these “Slayers” are descended from the original knights, and are now a diverse group of teens that includes Tori, a smart but spoiled senator’s daughter who didn’t sign up to save the world.

The dragon eggs have fallen into the wrong hands. The Slayers must work together to stop the eggs from hatching. They will fight; they will fall in love. But will they survive?

3 Signed Copies will be given away on Friday, December 9, 2011!

Cover Ogle (#1): In the Service of the King by Laura Kaye

This is definitely a cover worth ogling, don't you agree?

Laura Kaye revealed the cover of her new book set to be released in February of 2012 by Harlequin Nocturne Cravings today.

Here's the query blurb so you have an idea what this book is about:
Kael the Fair, one of seven reigning vampire warrior kings, loathes the Night of the Proffering—the night he must feed from a human female virgin to maintain his immortality and his humanity.  By feeding directly from the veins of the Proffered as he takes her virginity, Kael could determine whether the mating bond exists between them—but war and a previous loss lead the king to refuse to take a mate.  Groomed for the Proffering, twenty-year-old Shayla McKinnon risks her promising academic career to make two other dreams come true—vengeance for her sister's murder at the hands of the evil Soul Eaters and the impossible goal of capturing the Warrior King’s heart.  In the feeding chamber this night, a battle of wills ensues, one played out through a game of domination and submission that might prove dangerous to both of their hearts.
Now if that doesn't pique your curiosity, I don't know what does. I'm really intrigued by this story and I'm already getting excited for it's release. You can never go wrong with vampires, that's for sure.
