Top Five Vamp Hunter Roommate Rules
I’m curious, how many of you had or have a roommate (no spouses included)?
I have one. Yep, Ava. She’s so sweet. Awesome roommate, really. Problem is, she doesn’t know about my whole Vamp Hunter-thing. So, it get’s a little tricky sometimes, but I’ve come up with a few Roommate Rules over the years.
I know I’ve mentioned a few of these on Twitter and Facebook before, but it’s worth mentioning again in case there are some other Hunters trying as desperately as me to fit in with the…humans.
Here are my top five:
Roommate rule #1: Don’t let her your roomie find your hidden chest of vampire weapons. Just leads to another mind-wipe.
I hate mind-wiping Ava. She deserves better, but to tell her what I really am…I’m not sure which is worse. For now, mind-wipes are the lesser of two evils.
Roommate Rule #2: Protect your roomie from Vampires, no matter what the cost.
I was hesitant to get a roommate for this very reason. Worried she’d get hurt somehow, but in the end, I’ll pretty much kick anyone’s ass who looks at her sideways, Vamp or no Vamp! So, she’s safe!
Roommate Rule #3: Do not let your roomie see your wrist light up like a light bulb—just leads to more mind-wipes.
Yeah, see, there’s that mind-wipe issue again…I might have to ask Jake about that. He’s got this buddy who’s big into the research, maybe there’s something out there in the crazy paranormal world websites about this. Or…I could just tell her. Maybe Ava would be okay with my being a Hunter… **crosses fingers**
Roommate Rule #4: Even though I no longer need to eat…choking down some chocolate with her when she’s upset…totally worth it!
Seriously. Sometimes I just have to do it. When my BFF is having a rough day or guy-trouble…yeah, we need our chick time.
Roommate Rule #5: Do not let your roomie talk you into wearing a skirt for a night out, no matter how easy Buffy makes it look, it does NOT work when trying to fight a Vamp.
I’m totally fashioned challenged, and the few times I’ve let Ava, miss fashionista, pick out my outfits the darn Vamps show up. I don’t know why I bother anymore. But…I’ll tell you a secret. It IS kinda fun to dress up once in a while and go on a real date. All this Vamp butt kicking I do doesn’t necessarily lead to normal college-age fun…so once in a while…I like it.
