Cover Ogle (#14): The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer #2)
by Michelle Hodkin
Expected publication: October 23rd 2012 by Simon & Schuster Children's Publishing
Two days after Mara walks into a police station in Miami at the close of The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer, she is committed for psychiatric treatment for what her parents believe is a mental breakdown. But what seems like a hallucination to everyone else is a chilling reality for Mara. Someone from her past has discovered her strange, disturbing secret and that someone wants her to pay. But she's about to discover that the price is more than she can bear.

Dark and thrilling, suspenseful and passionate, The Evolution of Mara Dyer will have readers breathlessly turning pages to find out what will become of Mara Dyer next.

To be completely honest, I don't like the cover for The Evolution of Mara Dyer and much as I loved the cover for The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer. This cover looks more like a painting than a photo, and I don't really like covers that have that look. I do like how it's representative of the story, though. The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer was one of my very favorite book of 2011, so I'm really looking forward to continuing the story in The Evolution of Mara Dyer.

What are your thoughts on the cover of The Evolution of Mara Dyer?

Waiting on Wednesday (#17): Wrecked by Anna Davies

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

This week's eagerly anticipated release is:

Wrecked
by Anna Davies
Expected publication: May 1st 2012 by Simon & Schuster Books For Young Readers
Secrets of the sea have never been sexier than this.

Ever since the death of her parents, Miranda has lived on Whym Island, taking comfort in the local folklore, which claims a mysterious sea witch controls the fate of all on the island and in its surrounding waters. Sometimes it’s just easier to believe things are out of your control.

But then a terrible boating accident takes the lives of several of her friends, and Miranda is rescued by a mysterious boy who haunts her dreams. Consumed by guilt from the accident, she finds refuge in late-night swims—and meets Christian, a boy who seems eerily familiar, but who is full of mystery: He won’t tell her where he is from, or why they can only meet at the beach. But Miranda falls for him anyway…and discovers that Christian’s secrets, though meant to protect her, may bring her nothing but harm.

Seductive and compelling, Wrecked brings a contemporary, paranormal twist to a classic enchanting tale.
