“You’re engaging and kind. The thin detailed line of facial hair framing your jaw suggests to me you like to have some mystery and can be a very private person, but you don’t hide. If people ask your opinion, you’re honest and open, sometimes more than you intend to be.”

“You’re good.”

“It’s a gift. What can I say?” She relaxed. Not everyone was as receptive to her “gift.”

“I’m speechless.”

“Do you want to try and figure me out?” What will he say?

“Sure I may not be as good at it as you are, but I’ll give it a try.”

“Ready.” Laura dropped her arms to her side and lifted her chin with a smile.

I've always liked romance stories that take place in airports. There's just something about the connection between the two people that I find irresistible. I absolutely love this series and Frost is another great addition. I thought that the erotic paintings that Max made was a very interesting concept and everyone who sees them is, like, immediately aroused! A night shared between a succubus and a fire sex demon is bound to be HOT!

Short Review:

I liked how Thunder kind of carried on from where Lightning ended, but with Sean and Veronica's story. We even get to see how things are between Camp and Lily from the first book. Where Lightning was more serious, Thunder has some humor and is a little more lighthearted. Of course, there are supernatural elements. You can't place a story in the town of Sleepy Hollow and not have something mystical. Veronica is a witch, maybe not a very good one, but she can do simple things. I liked how easily Sean accepted that she's a witch. Although having a brother who has superhuman abilities and is dating a succubus has an impact. I absolutely love the Sleepy Hollow series (which is a part of the 1Night Stand series) and I can't wait to read the next book, Frost!

Excerpt:

Veronica paced back and forth in the grand entry foyer of the Belmont mansion, the kitten heels of her Prada mules clacking on the marble floors.

The rest of the place might not be finished, but she’d insisted on having a few rooms completed, so at least she felt like she was living in a home, rather than a massive, never-ending construction project. Well, her contractor had insisted, even though working around the main entrance and central hallway created more work for him and his crew. But she was forced to admit he was right.

Her cell phone chimed on top of the antique credenza shoved flush against one wall. She leaped for it. Probably Geneviève, to regale her with all the fun she was having inParis. Or Sean, to advise her he couldn’t make it after all. She sighed and read the text message on the small screen.

Congratulations, Veronica. 1Night Stand has found your date. Have a good time.

With both anxiety and mounting excitement, she stared at the screen and waited. No other info. Outside in the night, thunder boomed. She jumped then laughed at herself.

I really like Dragon Temptation, although I wish I had read Double Dragon Seduction, the book that tells the story before this one. But Dragon Temptation was well written and an enjoyable read.

Except:

“What is this place?”

“It’s a hot springs cave.”

“A cave? Isn’t that dangerous?”

“Not when you’re with me, I’ll keep you safe, I promise.” The warmth of his smile melted the last of her cold exterior.

More solar lights illuminated the path to their destination. Although hesitant, she didn’t resist when he led her to the rocky archway. The exquisite aroma of the jasmine flowers clustered along the walls of the entrance lingered about them.

“It’s for the exclusive use of villa guests so….”

“What?”

“Since the reception is still going, I don’t think we’ll be interrupted.” “Oh,” a shiver of excitement ran through her. Another chance of getting caught.

“There are some wrought iron torches along the stone walls.” Yong patted his pocketless jacket. “No matches.”

“I don’t have anything,” Cindy stopped. She wouldn’t follow even him into the blackness ahead. “I left my bag in my room, we’ll have to go back, we can’t see inside.”

“Hey, it’s no problem, I got it.” Yong stood close to the torch and blew on the wick. The glow emanating from his pursed lips ignited the lamp.

A surge of amazement rushed through her. “Oh, right, the dragon thing. Gwen told me all about it.”

“Hope it doesn’t freak you out.” Yong walked to the next one and repeated his magic.

“Not at all, actually, the first time I saw it was the night Gwen lost it on her ex. Then, I was freaked out, but it was like she was in a trance, and her eyes were….”

“Yes!”

Review:

I really liked Lightning! Lily left Camp their senior year during prom after putting him in a coma after having sex. Just disappeared, leaving Camp to deal with all the strange changes that happened to him after that. 10 years later, it's their high school reunion. Both are dreading and secretly hoping to run into each other again. Neither has been able to forget the other. And thanks to Madame Eve's 1Night Stand service, sparks fly between them once again.

There was something really sweet about Lily and Camp, especially at the end. And it's interesting that Camp developed all these powers after being in a coma senior year. Is he now an incubus? Or is he still only a human, but with supernatural powers? It's never stated right out if he is or not. I think he must be at least half incubus if not a full one.

I can't wait to read Thunder, the next book in the Sleepy Hollow series, which is also a part of the 1Night Stand series. That is about Camp's younger brother Sean and the witch who is having her house renovated by the brother's construction business.

Short Review:

Power Play is really well written and the characters well developed. While this can be read as a stand alone novella, I do wish that I had read the first book in the Hat Trick Trilogy first, though.

Excerpt:

"I've spent enough time around hockey players to know that they aren't the kind of guys that I want to waste my time with." She stared the two of them down, her eyes fixed and unyielding.

"And how is it that you've spent so much time around us that you know how all of us behave?" He knew some of his teammates could be real assholes, but he hated to think that their reputation could ruin this night for Todd and him. Especially after he'd spent most of practice sporting a hard on from fantasizing about the evening. They weren't allowed to ruin this for him.

"Scott's your friend that you set up with this service, right?" She started pacing.

Todd and Ian both nodded.

"Well, TJ is my best friend that I set up." She stopped and turned toward them.

For once, he actually felt speechless. That explained why she looked familiar to him. Now that he could place her, he remembered seeing her hanging around the rink after practice and before games. His brain sifted through the new information while Todd picked up the conversation.

"Look, I get it. You've met a few players who were complete jerks." She snorted and covered her mouth. Tempted to respond to her display, he bit the inside of his cheek and let his friend continue talking. "You asked for a certain experience tonight though. If we leave, you aren't going to get that. Who knows when you'll be able to find a couple of other guys willing to provide it."
