Disney Uses Classic Female Characters to Promote Unhealthy Body Image

http://action.sumofus.org/a/skinny-minnie/33/91/?sub=fb

"Barneys New York is collaborating with Disney to reveal grossly-contorted versions of Minnie Mouse, Daisy Duck and other classic Disney characters."

"Now Disney is using children’s cartoon characters to promote the least realistic, unhealthiest body image yet."

“If we're going to make this work, we have to have a 5-foot-11 Minnie.”

My Opinion:

THIS IS SO DISGUSTING AND SICK!!

And they aren't only doing this with Minnie Mouse. They are using Daisy Duck and other classic characters too. They are basically promoting anorexia and other eating disorders, so that girls can be this skinny. Skinny is fine as long as it's not unhealthy like this picture shows.

I grew up with Minnie Mouse and all the other Disney character, as I'm sure most girls have, and I think seeing MM like this would have FREAKED ME OUT!! This does not look natural in any way. This photo is just disturbing. I don't even want to see what they've done with the other characters.

I'll take CLASSIC Minnie any day!

What are your thoughts on this? Let me know in the comments!

  1. I am truly appalled by this! Disney is definitely sending the wrong message to little girls. I don't think this is going to go unnoticed. I hope not!
