TOKYOPOP's Top 5 Coolest Anime Moms

These are the moms we wish we'd had.

In honor of Mother’s Day, we’re taking a look at the coolest anime moms who stole our hearts and made us ask, “Why can’t she be my mom?”

Delia Ketchum (Pokemon) - There’s a fine line between cool and irresponsible, and while some might argue that letting your 10-year-old son leave the house to go adventuring might be questionable parenting, we think it’s downright awesome! There’s something to be said for having your mom having that much faith in you.

Sanae Furukawa (Clannad) - Well, she can’t bake bread and she can be a bit of a crybaby, but we won’t hold that against her. Sanae is the strong matriarch of the Furukawa family, stepping in to help raise her granddaughter after her daughter’s sudden death.

Usagi (Sailor Moon) - Usagi has to put up with Chibiusa, who points a gun at her head, pees in her bed, and steals all of Mamoru’s attention. Of course she whines (loudly) along the way, but when push comes to shove, she’s always there for her little girl.

“Mama” Higurashi (InuYasha) - Not only does Kagome’s mom simply accept that she has to spent copious amounts of time down a well in ancient Japan, she supports it. She leaves snacks for Kagome and even entertains InuYasha when he comes through the well to fetch Kagome. Our moms didn't even leave us Lunchables.

Bulma (Dragon Ball Z) - Bulma isn't just the smartest woman on this list, she’s also the richest and (arguably) the hottest (because who doesn't want to inherit the attractiveness gene?). She was able to crack legendary hard-ass Vegeta and crafted a time machine for her son. Plus she rocks a stylish teal 'do that would make Marge Simpson jealous. We wish she were our mom!

  1. Haha, I loved Mama Higurashi, too. But I totally agree that Bulma takes number one. I love that woman - for all the reasons pointed out, but I guess mostly for her to be able to soften up Vegeta who was always my fave chara of DBZ.

  2. Oh I love Bulma! Quite a mouth on her, eh?
